The key to starting and operating a profitable home based business is to find unique business ideas. You will have less competition from other businesses and make more money. Some unique business ideas are:

Unique Business Ideas #1: Growing Unique Herbs or Flowers - Most cities have a local farmers market. These markets sell home grown herbs or flowers and make a nice profit. If you have a green thumb and you can grow unique herbs and flowers, people will pay a nice price for them. You could also dry your herbs and sell them either at the farmer's market or online websites that specialize in herbs and flowers.

Unique Business Ideas #2: Doggy Do Clean-Up - I know it sounds kind of wierd, but people are making good money cleaning up after other people's dogs. With this business you would visit the home of dog owners on a routine schedule and clean up all the dog poo in their yards. Because of the fact that some people don't want to do this particular chore, it makes it a very profitable business opportunity.

Unique Business Ideas #3: Small Group or Home School Instruction - Parents that home school their children or small groups of interested individuals would love to take field trips with someone who knows the field trip topic and can also easily explain that topic to both parents and the children.
